DuPage Medical Group Physiatry/The Spine Center’s D.O. Barbara Heller

I did not expect to write this, and I wish I weren’t, but I have to.

Today I went to DuPage Medical Group’s Physiatry center, which was recommended to me by my primary physician. The purpose of my visit was to get a referral for physiotherapy or occupational therapy, and to kickstart testing for possible causes of chronic pain. I already have a diagnosis of hypermobility spectrum disorder, for which I use crutches and have been in physiotherapy before. Both crutches and physiotherapy have benefitted me before. The only things I needed from this D.O. were 1. a recommendation or…

This is a feelgood book for anyone who wants to feel like they’ve done something for Jews, but hasn’t. It doesn’t bring honest awareness to anything. It doesn’t attempt to give any kind of complete picture, and it lionizes a Nazi while trying to get you to ignore that Jewish slave labor was the dirt cheapest available and he was a businessman.

Thomas Keneally’s “Schindler’s List” (originally published as “Schindler’s Ark” in 1982) became the basis for Steven Spielberg’s 1993 sensory overload “Schindler’s List” film. Today we’ll be discussing the book; I have a YouTube video encompassing a large body…

A Tikkun Olamist Celebration and Elevation of the Self in Justice

While Jews round the world will be observing Pesach Sheni, AsAJews have decided to make their own holiday to supersede it. Instead of Pesach Sheni, the second chance taken by Jews who may have missed observing certain parts of Pesach and to otherwise grow and improve by others, AsAJews have dedicated this day to the opening of their individual Tzaddik Boxes.

A Tzaddik Box, coined by AsAJew Dru Saymor, prospective Tikkun Olamist Rabbi, is in his words, “like a tzedakah box because the names have the same root.” The idea is that every time one does something that one knows…

An enhanced perspective on medications on Pesach and Yom Tov

One of the things that really drew me back to Judaism and out of our Christian-secular world, here in the USA, is Judaism’s regard for human life. We honor HASHEM by living, not by seeking pain or martyrdom, and we seek to explore all of HASHEM’S world, this garden HASHEM has blessed us with, and how maintaining health is honoring HASHEM, not damaging ourselves in the course of observance. …

How many times would someone have to target your family with bullets and explosives for you to move them to a safe location?

One? Maybe a malicious prank!

Two? Surely the government will do something!

How about ten?

Oh, and the culprit lives across the street from you and stands there with his friends, laughing at you as you and your family scramble for their lives in the dead of night, sometimes wondering whether one or both of your small children have been killed by blast or bullet. …

When I was a child in the 90s and mid-2000s and the Travel, History, and Discovery channels still had frequent documentaries, I remember seeing one discussing vampires and the various people who consider themselves such. Some were active in social clubs and bars; others seemed to have some form of ailment their specific vampirism (usually consuming some form of blood…

I was a student who loved to learn and cared about school from preschool through multiple graduate studies. I genuinely enjoyed math and science — until I hit a wall in the seventh grade (around ages 12–13 in the USA) with a teacher who didn’t care, and I learned the hard way that sometimes, focusing on school, “buckling down,” and trying your hardest just isn’t enough.

I’m going back to school. I’ve already earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in language and studied in multiple languages, but I’ve always loved science, specifically that pertaining to volcanoes, and don’t want to stay…

While Jews round the world prepare for Asarah B’Teves tonight, Jactivists have a different celebration in mind: commemorating the births of their Jactivist movements with vigils for all of the pogromists who preceded them. While Jews anticipate a night of mourning and day of reflection and fasting, Jactivists prepare lavish feasts amid Nittel Nacht tree decor. Instead of Asarah B’Teves Selichos, they’ve planned festive candle lighting and a Shema recitation for those who besieged Israel and those who continue to besiege the Jewish people.

Progressive Jactivists United sent us an invitation to this Nittel Nacht activity. It was advertised as…
